Safari Drive Marks Scottsdale’s Newest Luxury Address

One of Scottsdale, Arizona’s most notable intersections now offers a new address for luxury living in the resort town. Safari Drive, located on a 4.8-acre waterfront site near the corner of Camelback and Scottsdale Roads, offers 78 residences beginning in the mid $300s.

Once home to the legendary 1956 Safari Hotel and Resort, Safari Drive is just steps away from world-class shopping and restaurants, a pulsing nightlife scene, and an impressive arts and cultural district. It’s the work of ST Residential, a consortium of notable private equity groups that includes leading investors Starwood Capital, TPG Capital, WLR LeFrak and Perry Capital. Originally launched in 2007, the property was removed from the market and is now being re-launched at prices about 50 percent lower than they were four years ago.

Safari Drive has garnered national attention for its design and unique character. Most recently, the project earned “Project of the Year” from Builder magazine and earlier this year, Safari Drive was one of 18 national projects honored by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) at the 2010 AIA Housing Awards.

To the east of Safari Drive, water features are incorporated into the design fostering public trails for walking and outdoor enjoyment. To the west of the project, Scottsdale Fashion Square – one of the nation’s most storied retail locations – frames another truly Scottsdale visual: Camelback Mountain and views of the western sky. Buildings at Safari Drive are oriented for shade optimization and form a sequence of interconnected outdoor areas with views of the mountains and water features.
